An original colonial house which has been stunningly restored, thoughtfully renovated and beautifully furnished. Nestled in the coastal village of Ahangama, only 300m from the beach, this stylish sanctuary is a hidden gem.
There are four fantastically appointed double en suite bedrooms with super king-sized beds, mosquito nets, air conditioning, overhead fans and great cupboard space. The generous master suite boasts its own private verandah and a sumptuous bath tub, but otherwise shares the same sleek en suites with twin vanities and indoor/outdoor walk in shower as the other adjoining bathrooms. One of the doubles has its own private courtyard area, whilst the remaining two bedrooms have the option to be made into one suite for small families wanting the privacy or direct access to the other room.
Deceptively large and cleverly cosy there are a multitude of places to sit, chat, read, eat, bathe, drink, recline or sway inside and outside of this phenomenal property. There is a fabulous long dining table that sits 10 people very comfortably, positioned centrally to the well equipped kitchen and open plan sitting room. Beautiful rattan chairs and comfy cushions adorn the verandah which looks out over the 10m turquoise swimming pool and enchanting garden. Wide sun beds and parasols are dotted around it in pairs. There is even a tropical badminton or volleyball pitch marked out!
The invested attention to detail in this passion project make this old merchants house feel like a fresh, sumptuous and spoiling new home. Everything from the lovely white crisp linen, pretty Indian textiles, eclectic furniture and palm printed dining area exudes style and comfort. The high ceilings, sense of space, thoughtful design and amazing light also add to the remarkable energy that flows through this very special house.
Close to beaches and surf breaks, stilt fisherman and whale watching this villa is positioned perfectly for expeditions to Galle or Weligama.
